The Immigrant Experience Benefit Concert

"THE IMMIGRANT EXPERIENCE cantata by John Kramer will be performed by a combined choir from several Unitarian Universalist congregations. The concert is a benefit for The Interfaith Immigrant Legal Fund.

This 25-minute cantata features texts by our founding fathers that establish the U.S. as a place of welcome for immigrants.

The Interfaith Immigrant Legal Fund connects families facing the threat of deportation with community resources and financial support to cover legal fees and bond costs. http://www.episcopalcitymission.org/ "

"Put on your best pantsuit and pussy hat and join us at The Burren on March 25 for an afternoon of epic music paying homage to the powerful women of opera. From Valkyrie warriors to powerful queens, we will prove once and for all that women in opera aren’t just shrinking violets and swooning ingenues. All are welcome, as our female AND male singers show us what feminism sounds like, with superhuman vocal feats that will include oft-overlooked works by female composers. he only thing anyone will be grabbing is a cold beer served up by the friendly Burren staff."

"Sunday Night At The Opera closes the summer season with an evening dedicated to the many small, privately owned Playhouses that dot the Northeast. Every summer they are reborn, offering employment to scores of young artists, and have helped to keep live theater vibrant for the thousands that attend.

The singers of Opera-On-Tap are drawing from a range of material. Broadway, Off-Broadway and West End musicals are all represented. Traditional pieces by Rodgers and Hammerstein and Cole Porter are set against the modern styling of Stephen Schwartz and other."

"A Night at the Cabaret"

Join Opera del West for an intimate night of cabaret songs in honor of Valentine’s Day 2015. Enjoy humorous, poignant and powerful songs by Benjamin Britten, William Bolcom, Erik Satie, Domenick Argento, Kurt Weill, and Richard Pearson Thomas as well as some American Songbook classics by Gershwin and Bernstein. (There might even be a surprise visit from Edith Piaf). Sung by six Opera del West favorites: Nathan Rodriguez and Sara Avari from last summer’s “The Seagull", Erika Mitchell and Katrina Holden from “Little Women", and Christine Field and Brendan Buckley from “Amelia Goes to the Ball". As always there will be complimentary champagne and chocolates to toast your sweetheart at intermission.
